Your advantages

Two speeds combined in one motor,
to shorten motion sequences in systems and machines with two or four times the rotational speed of the motor.

Can be used worldwide
because our pole-changing motors also have all the certifications required by international approvals.

Two speeds in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:4

We offer pole-changing AC motors with 2 rotational speeds in the following sizes and versions DR63 and DRS. sizes and designs. as 4/2- and 8/4-pole motors with a speed ratio of 1:2 and as 8/2-pole motors with a speed ratio of 1:4 (DRS.. only).

These motors also come from our modular system - take advantage of its benefits: for example, we offer the pole-changing AC motors for countries with 50 Hz or 60 Hz line frequency and, of course, with the necessary stress. Of course, the pole-changing motors also have all certifications in accordance with the requirements of international approvals so that you can use them worldwide, e.g. in Canada (CSA approval), the USA (UR approval) or China (CCC approval).

A wide range of additional features completes our quotation so that you can find the exact drives you need for your applications and uses. For example, thanks to up to three different brake sizes per motor size, you can dimension the brake in such a way that braking brings the drive to a stop safely and only as quickly as necessary.

With our quotation of pole-changing AC motors, you save time and optimize your processes - in motor selection, the ordering process and logistics. As a global player, we make this quotation available to you in 54 countries around the world.

  • Two speeds are achieved in the motor by simply changeover switching the windings
  • Pole-changing motors are a simple and economical alternative for applications that "only" require two speeds
  • Pole-changing motors are not subject to the globally applicable efficiency specifications, even if only one of the two speeds is permanently in use
  • A wide range of additional features of the SEW-EURODRIVE modular motor system and different speed ratios (1:2 and 1:4) enable many application perspectives
  • Pole-changing motors are developed in-house according to our proven modular system and are also manufactured in our own series production in accordance with our quality standards

  • Example 1:
To limit the mechanical load when starting, the low speed is used and then switched to the high operating speed promptly without stopping. In order not to miss the target positions, the drive is first switched back to the lower speed shortly before the target, then switched-off and often brought to a complete idle state with a brake (rapid/creep speed positioning). This application can be found in travelling gears and vertical drives of cranes, for example.
  • Example 2:
Continuous material transport in only one direction leads to a large difference in the direction of rotation of the drive. To optimise the timing of the empty return journey, the drive switches to the higher speed and returns to the starting point. This application can be found, for example, in inclined conveyors for building materials or bulk materials, ropeways and rotary tables.
  • Example 3:
A widely varying volume of transported goods is countered with a stepped speed, thus reducing the load on machines and system parts. This application can be found in conveyor belts for building materials, bulk materials or packages, for example.
