02/12/2024 • Introducing the ECO2 design as standard, across more SEW-EURODRIVE products

Andy Turner, SEW EURODRIVE, December 2nd 2024

Increasing the efficiency and sustainability of your production process

As a leading specialist in drive technology, at SEW-EURODRIVE our experience in working with customers across industries stretching from automotive, to food production, to airport baggage handling, has given the expertise to continuously innovate on new products.

With more industries looking to boost their environmental credits and increase the efficiency of their production processes, we’ve developed a range of products that set high standards for sustainability.

The ECO2 coating-free drive range, now set as standard for more of SEW products

The ECO2 range from SEW-EURODRIVE features drives made from uncoated aluminium, which forms a natural thin protective layer when combined with oxygen. These drives can be used in indoor spaces with a maximum humidity of 60%, and at temperatures between -20°C and +60°C.

Designed for use across various applications, including cleaning systems, conveyor belts, and precise dispensing, the name ECO2 highlights the range’s dual advantages – delivering both environmental and economic benefits.

The drives save energy, by avoiding drying stages, and improve environmental balance, with lower CO2 emissions, and easier reuse and recycling at the end of the product lifecycle.

The ECO2 gearmotors are being rolled out with immediate effect across the UK, following a successful soft launch last year, and the design is now the standard for a wider range of products including, R.0, R.17, R.27, F..27, K..19, K..29, W..10, W..19, W..20, W..29, W..30, W..39, W..49, W..59, and multiple DR2../DRN.. motors and motor sizes.

W..9 SPIROPLAN® gear units, now even better than before

For customers in need of gear units that are future-proof, with low-noise emissions, and high efficiency, we’ve developed the W..9 SPIROPLAN® product.

Lightweight and wear-free, with quiet operation at every speed, the W..9 SPIROPLAN® gear units have high levels of efficiency, even at high gear ratios, reducing energy costs.

The W..9 SPIROPLAN® gear units are now available in the ECO2 design, meaning not only will they increase your efficiency, but they’ll also improve your sustainability at the same time.

The ECO2 design will also be the default for other drives, where outer surfaces consist mostly of plastic and aluminium parts.

Speaking about the new range, Andy Turner, Sales & Operations Manager, said: “Our coating-free drive range already sets high standards for the industry in terms of sustainability. The inclusion of more gears and motors within the range, as standard, means more of our customers can now experience the energy-saving and environmental benefits of ECO2.”
