Leimen cement works – one of its ten production sites around Germany – is located in the immediate vicinity of the headquarters in Heidelberg. Since its foundation in 1896, this plant has undergone continuous further development.
A whole new system is sometimes unnecessary. Modernising the existing one is often sufficient, performing a retrofit rather than purchasing a new system. That was the case at Leimen cement works, where a third-party gear unit in the vertical sifter system was replaced in its entirety .
We assisted the cement manufacturer during all stages of the conversion process. Following consultation to clarify the technical requirements, the team designed a new drive and compiled a quotation for the customised solution. An X series industrial gear unit was selected to replace the existing bevel-helical gear unit. It was fitted with a flange at the output end to connect it to the output cone. The existing coupling was also overhauled.
During the retrofit, the building material company benefited in particular from the short delivery time , all-round support and attractive full-service package . In this case, the retrofit cost less than purchasing a new system.
