Short design and smaller installation space
thanks to the special design, reducing weight and motor length.
Reduced installation effort
and therefore lower costs.
High variability
Enables customised combination of motor and brake.
Diagnostic unit for function and wear monitoring (optional)
which works contactless and provides continuous information on the function and wear of each partial brake.
Functional safety (optional)
through certification in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1.
A common solution for realising a safe brake system in an industrial environment or in entertainment technology applications is the use of 2 motors arranged in parallel with single brakes - safe, but not particularly space-saving or cost-optimised.
With the modern BF... double brakes, SEW-EURODRIVE offers the option of realising a safe brake system with 2 redundant partial brakes on a single drive. This not only enables compact installation, but you are also optimally equipped in terms of safety technology. Both designs of the double brake make it possible to achieve the highest performance level e (PL e) in industrial plants.
The advantages of the double brake: less installation space, reduced installation effort and therefore lower costs. Completed to form a safe brake system, this opens up completely new possibilities in the area of functional safety for man and machine.

In addition to the manual brake release with automatic re-engaging function HR, with which both partial brakes of the double brake can be released simultaneously, there is also the new manual brake release option HT. In addition to the basic function of the HR option, it has a special mechanism on the hand release lever. This enables the release of any partial brake or both partial brakes together.
The double brakes are available in sizes BF11, BF20 and BF30 with nominal braking torques of 2 x 20 Nm up to 2 x 300 Nm.
Special features:
Also new in the programme optional diagnostic unit for function and wear monitoring of the brake /DUE (Diagnostic Unit Eddy Current).
The sensor system performs continuous function and wear monitoring for each partial brake - completely contactless. It displays the switching status of the brake, monitors the permissible wear and continuously measures the current working air gap.
