SEW-EURODRIVE system buses are seamlessly integrated into the device hardware. This reduces the number of bus lines required, even structures without bus lines are possible.

SNI (Single Line Network Installation)

combines the advantages of reduced installation effort with the technology of Ethernet-based communication in an innovative drive infrastructure solution:

  • Use of the electrical power infrastructure as the basis for transmitting the Ethernet-based communication signals
  • Ethernet-based access to all individual participants from a central point
  • Significantly reduced installation effort, as only the supply lines need to be connected
  • Maximum extension of the line topology for up to 10 drives over a total cable length of 100 m
  • Installation with shielded standard cables in accordance with SEW-EURODRIVE regulations, no special cables are required

SBus (CAN-based SEW-EURODRIVE system bus)

The CAN technology developed for use in mobile applications is also used in automation:

  • Consistent use of the multi-master functionality of CAN for data exchange between drives, even completely without an additional controller on a project-specific basis
  • The SBus also enables applications that require hard real-time conditions for communication. The clock-synchronised transmission of setpoints and actual values between drives or in a network with a controller enables applications such as "electronics gear units" and "multi-axis motion control".
  • Cost-effective networking through the use of standard CAN bus cables, in the control cabinet via separable screw connections, in the decentralised area alternatively also with the M12 connectors standardised for DeviceNet™ or CANopen
  • Maximum extension of the line topology up to 500 m, whereby the number of drives and peripheral components is limited to 64, but is usually less than 20.

SBusPLUS (EtherCAT®)

SBusPLUS offers optimal integration in networks with our controllers and drive technology as well as additional functions that enable quick and easy startup:

  • EtherCAT® is a hard-realtime capable communication technology that is also flexible in terms of installation.
  • Star, tree and line topologies can be realised practically without any loss of performance, even with spur lines.
