07/10/2024 • SEW-EURODRIVE's latest innovations include a new parallel-shaft helical gear unit series and advanced modular solutions for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) delivering high radial load absorption, efficient material flow, and enhanced safety with real-time dynamic adjustments.
Earlier this year, SEW-EURODRIVE launched of its innovative modular system of hardware and software solutions for mobile systems, offering a comprehensive and reliable toolkit for companies looking to expand their portfolio or enter the market for mobile solutions.
At LogiMAT 2024, the International Trade Show for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management, we presented a new parallel-shaft helical gear unit series that can absorb high radial loads specifically required for travel drives.
The unit is powered by the integrated 48 V MOVIMOT® performance ELV drive, which offers flexible process control and efficient material flow monitoring. Alternatively, the SCM (Solution Controller Multiaxis) solution allows for versatile drive configurations with 4, 6, or 8 axes, all managed by a single unit. This setup enables the travel axis to be positioned in a lateral and compact manner.
With the ELV (Extra Low Voltage) drive concept for mobile systems, we provide travel drives that are optimised for system solutions and operate safely with extra-low voltage.
As a leader in the development of high-quality technologies for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), SEW-EURODRIVE has brought decades of application expertise to the table.
Stuart Swarbrick from SEW-EURODRIVE UK said: “Our high-quality modular technologies for mobile systems are built on proven, well-coordinated components and modules, enabling qualified functions and reliable automation solutions.
“For suppliers, system operators, and companies who want to expand their portfolio of materials handling technology, our system has a robust, reliable, and flexible foundation, which supports a wide range of mobile solutions.”
The software modules needed for running PLC programmes are available for all functions and applications of both omnidirectional and bidirectional vehicles. These modules also include specially adapted kinematics for the drive train, ensuring precise travel accuracy using vector-controlled movement (x, y, ω kinematic model).
Safety is a priority at SEW-EURODRIVE, and our safety functions, like the automatic creation of safety and warning zones, are supported by Microsoft Windows applications. The safety controller uses software modules to calculate current travel profiles, including speed and direction, using inverse kinematics based on standard rotary encoders.
This allows for dynamic adjustments to safety and warning zones, even during cornering, and in omnidirectional vehicles.
