Up next in our meet the team series, we’re speaking to Beckie Shaw, who works in electronics sales and service here at SEW-EURODRIVE UK.
Beckie has worked with SEW-EURODRIVE for 17 years now, having joined us shortly after university.
Continue reading to find out about Beckie’s role, her proudest achievements, and her favourite food and hobbies.
My job role is electronics sales and service, so my main responsibilities include processing quotes and orders, as well as technical support to help internal and external people along with customers.
Prior to working at SEW, I worked at a local hospital on outpatients' reception, but before that, I did a degree in electronic and electrical engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Career-wise, I’ve been involved in quoting on some really big projects, and I’ve seen some of the high-value orders go all the way from quotation stage through to the dispatch from our Normanton site and arrival at the customer’s site.
My personal biggest achievement, however, is finishing the Leeds Half Marathon, which obviously took a lot of effort, but I’m very proud of it!
The best bit of advice I’ve received is just to try and step back and see the whole picture. There are two sides to every story, and there are different ideas from different people, so you’ve got to see things as a whole rather than a part.
It’s a difficult one – I'd like to say lasagne; I think I could eat that every day!
I always want to come in every day and get something done. Being able to make a difference is a big motivator.
I really enjoy reading. I’ll read anything, whether it’s a thriller, romance novel, or true story!
