SEW-EURODRIVE UK unveils its new assembly area
Normanton, 04/10/2010: SEW-EURODRIVE UK has unveiled the latest phase in its drive for the continual improvement of its facilities
at its headquarters in the UK, in Normanton, with the creation of a bespoke Geared Motor assembly facility incorporating MOVIFIT® decentralised controlled conveyor system.
By utilising Best Practice principles and Lean Manufacturing techniques, in its drive for improved efficiency, SEW EURODRIVE
has created new Workstations and a Conveyor system with optimised performance, optimised ergonomics and waste free processes.
The team responsible was formed from both specialists in process flow and experienced assembly technicians. This combination
of individual skills and technology resulted in not only a successful project, but also influenced the whole development of
the company’s future direction in this area.
The Conveyor Transport system is linked to each Workstation utilising and incorporating SEW EURODRIVE Geared Motors and MOVIFIT® decentralised technology to ensure the efficient operation of the specific sections of loaded conveyor to transport assembled
products to the Lubricant Fill and Testing area. The next stage in the process is the transportation of the products via an
overhead conveyor to an environmentally friendly Water-based paint system and then on through an automated paint drying system
before final inspection, packing and onward shipping.
The whole process is geared towards consistent repeatable high quality in the most efficient manner from beginning, where
the individual components are picked from stock, all the way through to the internet link to create the carriers shipping
manifest at their depot for their collection of Customer orders twice daily from our factory.
